Such intensive agriculture production is caused by the demand for cheap food, as well as greed to make more money (for the farmers).
As stated in the website, "No factory farming system is problem-free". Keeping thousands of pigs in the farm to become cost-effective, this pig farm in Poland has caused much harm to the environment. It is the cause of many pollutions; air pollution, land pollution and even water pollution.
The neighbourhood has suffered air pollution as stench was unbearable. It is even harmful to the air. As the manure seeps through the soil and into the water system, it could also cause water pollution as the nitrates are released into the water and harm aquatic life.
But there is no way we can stop such agriculture. It is an important food source for us. The only way is to keep an intense control on these farms, and it is important in the way the pig slurry is handled, and minimise the amount of pollution caused.
